Heres a few things our organization have been involved in:

  • The formidable work of the Director of Women Affairs, on HIV/AIDS since [1985], as a leading expert in the state, nation and international communities. At the time she worked as Director for the New York City, Department of Health Education, Outreach and Prevention program on HIV/AIDS.

  •  The Hijrah Institute Education Overseas Study Abroad Program, Touba, Senegal (1989-1995).

  • And she represented the Al-Khoei Foundation, as a United Nations Delegate (1992-1995) on HIV/AIDS, where she was a contributor to organization’s Magazine Dialogue. And she was the first woman of Color to work in that capacity for the organization.

  • The New York State, Muslim Family Services Coalition Initiative: Adoption and Safe Family Act of 1997 Project, and involvement with New York City’s: Community Partnership Initiative project.

  • Council Member representation to the United Nations Pre-Durban Conference: Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, Geneva Switzerland, [2001], under the aegis of the ECOSOC-Consultative organization, Malik Al-Shabazz Human Rights Institute,  as a student representative.

  • The Islamic Anti-Defamation League, Hospital Chaplains Program, Providence, R.I.

  • Community Newsletter, outreach programs amongst various Islamic Services and programs.

  • Participants in the New York State’s Governor’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium: Pathways to Peace in the Classroom and Community, of April 26, 2007, hosted in the Convention Center, Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York.

  • Coordinated, planned and supported the Murid Islamic Community in America [MICA], Collaborative Cultural Wellness Project and Technology Exchange venture (2007-2009). And working in the present capacity to supporting medical access for the West African Muslim communities of Senegal (2007-present).

  • The Coordination, planning and contributions of the April 2-3, 2008 conference entitled: Faith Communities Project: On Common Grounds, held in Poughkeepsie, New York, Reflecting similar collaboration from both offices.

  •  A community first, Clergy Breakfast: Community Context for Fellowship. Held at the Hutchinson Metro Center, Bronx, New York, and December 12, 2008 and co-sponsored by Offices of Children and Family Services [OCFS], Offices of the Associate Commissioner of the Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youths, & the Offices of Strategic Planning and Policy Development [OCFS], and The Bronx Clergy Task Force along with Adopt A Friend. Yet again representing collaboration from the Offices of Women Affairs and Religious, Spiritual and Pastoral Services.

  • Along with the programmatic first Bringing People Together: Saint Barnabas Celebrates Diversity, Tuesday, December 13, 2011; Clergy Breakfast Project: Encouragement: Considerations in Compassionate Wellness Care Implications for the Bronx. Also reflecting collaboration of the Offices of Women Affairs and Religious, Spiritual and Pastoral Affairs.

  • Contributions to the discussion: A Review of Cultural Competencies: Strengthening Muslim Families through Child Welfare Partnerships: Evidence Based Practice [EBP] and Practice Based Evidence [PBE]: ASFA Law in Context (2014). A project and workshop series: Strengthening Families through Child Welfare Partnerships: For staff Administration for Children’s Services [ACS], preventive and foster care agencies. Sponsored by The Interfaith Center of New York, The Catholic Charities, and the Borough-wide Community-based agency collaboration.
